How do I find an automotive blogger in Canada?

If you’re an automotive business owner or manager looking to grow your online presence, working with an automotive blogger in Canada can make a big difference.

But where do you start, and what should you look for?

Hi, I’m Ben and, well, I’m an automotive blogger in Canada. I’ve written (and continue to write) for businesses all around the country (and the world), from auto shops and garages to battery tester developers and 4×4 enthusiasts.

I’ve put together this guide to walk you through practical steps to find the right blogger for your business.

What do you need from an automotive blogger?

Before you start searching, define your goals. I think that’s an important aspect of any part of business. Or, indeed, life. With predefined goals, you’re far less likely to lose focus and get attracted by some flashy thing that you don’t need, like that Twix bar every time I go past the checkout. Mm.

So, are you looking for a Canadian automotive blogger to:

  • Write regular blog posts for your dealership or garage?
  • Highlight your products and services?
  • Engage local car enthusiasts on social media?
  • Hook people into your workshop?
  • Build authority among the car community?
  •

Not every automotive blogger in Canada will fit your needs, so clarity at this stage saves time later. Writers usually specialise in certain areas (for me, it’s website-based content), so make sure that fits, too.

Check an automotive blogger's portfolios and experience

Once you find potential bloggers, review their previous work. There’s nothing wrong with that, and most writers will have a strong showcase of prior clients and testimonials.

That said, bear in mind that, as in my case, I ghostwrite much of the content that I produce. That means my name isn’t on about 90% of what I do. So, obviously, none of it is public. But I’d be happy to point you in the direction of these posts if you’d like to see.

A strong automotive blogger in Canada will have:

  • Published blog posts for Canadian automotive businesses or websites
  • Knowledge of the local market, regulations, and audience
  • Examples of posts that drive engagement or lead generation

Engage and communicate with your shortlist

Hopefully, by now, you have a shortlist of automotive bloggers in Canada who meet your prerequisites. Great.

Now it’s time to reach out to the shortlisted writers. I find that the most telling thing here isn’t exactly what someone says, but how they say it. Pay close attention to this. Good signs include:

  • Quick, professional replies within a couple of workdays, or out-of-office explanations in the meantime.
  • Understanding of your business and audience (look for signs that they relate to what you do).
  • Clear ideas and suggestions on how they can support your content strategy. Everyone is unique and comes with their own approach, which is great.

This step is also a chance to discuss budgets, deadlines, and content frequency.

And, on the flip side, here are a few things I watch out for when I work with anyone. Keep an eye out for these, as they’re an early warning sign of a bad relationship to come:

  • Dismissive attitude towards anyone who doesn’t understand their field (writing)
  • Curt or overly aggressive wording
  • Poor grammar, formatting, and spelling – a writer should be able to write well at all times
  • AI-sounding stuff – and by that, I mean lots of words without actually saying much. That’s the last thing you need.

Consider long-term collaboration

All being well, this narrows your search down to just one or two automotive bloggers in Canada. As a last step, I suggest looking for the person you’d be most willing to work with long-term. The best results usually come from ongoing partnerships, because you learn about how each other works.

Give it some time. It can take a bit before search engines and LLMs (AIs) pick up the content and start to rank it highly or use it in responses. But even just a few months of consistent blogging can start showing measurable benefits in traffic and enquiries.

Long-term collaboration is something I thrive on, so if that’s what you’re looking for – and I meet the other criteria on this page – I’d love to hear from you. Finding an automotive blogger in Canada really doesn’t have to be too complicated, and perhaps, if you like the idea of working with me, I can save you the effort of looking!
